AM-PM MUSIC FESTIVAL JUNE 26-JUNE 29, 2018
Cuba isn’t The future is here and Havana’s AM-PM Music Festival, “America por su Musica”, is convinced that Cuba and its musicians and music industry should be part of it. The music industry across the globe has settled into a new digital era, as retail sales have given way to streaming and other digital formats. Today independent musicians have more tools at their disposition than ever before, with more competition but also more opportunities. Next week Havana will host the fourth edition of the AM-PM Music Festival from June 26th through June 29, 2018, with the main theme being “Self-publishing in the digital era.” The fourth edition of the Havana festival will be dedicated to the creation, distribution, and diffusion of contemporary, independent music.
The events opening workshop will be directed by Rafa G. Escalona and will be followed by workshops hosted by Yolaida Duharte and Jorge Luis Coto of the Cuban Ministry of Culture. Ditto Music will be holding conferences about digital publishing in Latin America led by Ariel Etbul and Ismael Comas. This fourth edition of Havana’s AM-PM Music Festival continues with the original idea of creating an event dedicated to helping young Cuban musicians access the Latin Americas commercial music industry through networking events and concerts. Most events take place at Havana’s Fabrica de Arte Cubano and nearby venues.
This year’s festival is being co-sponsored by the Norwegian Embassy in Havana and Spain’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
