Havana native Susana Pous has been one of Cuba’s leading choreographers of modern dance for the past twenty years. An accomplished dancer and choreographer with Havana’s DanzaAbierta Company, she is one of the island’s most relevant contemporary dance artists. Her talents have been recognized in Cuba where she has received the highest contemporary dance awards, the Villanueva and UNEAC Best Choreographer Award, and the Grand Prize of the Second Biannual.
Her most famous pieces, MalSon, Showroom, and Welcome have been performed at contemporary dance festivals like the Montpelier & Avignon Festival, Holland Dance Festival, South Korea’s SIDANCE, and at Schrittmacher and Oldemburg in Germany, the Joyce Theatre in New York, Danse Encore in Montreal, and more throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
