CHUCHO VALDES & PATRICIA SOSA PERFORM IN HAVANA
Chucho Valdes and Argentinian singer-songwriter Patricia Elena Sosa, alongside Cuban legend Omara Portuondo, performed songs from their new CD titled “Once; Concierto para Dos” on August 11th at Havana’s Grand Theatre. The album is composed of ballads, boleros, rock, soul, and blues. The event included performances by guitarists Dany Lewis and Daniel Casares, and singers Esperanza Garcia de Soria and Miguel Poveda.
The sold-out crowd, a mixture of locals and foreigners, gave the musicians several standing ovations, and seemed inspired by the first collaboration by this musical duo. Chucho and Patricia had been planning the CD for several years and were able to complete it in November 2017.
“Once; Concierto para Dos,” “Eleven; Concert for Two,” includes songs written by Jose Feliciano, Andres Castro, Rudy Perez, Cesar Portillo de la Luz, Pablo Milanes, and an equal number by both Chucho and Patricia. The CD was recorded at Chucho’s studio in Malaga, Spain. Chucho Valdes has been awarded Cuba’s National Music Prize, six Grammy Awards, and three Latin Grammys. Patricia Sosa was a member of Argentine rock band Nomady Soul and in 1990 she launched her solo career with her self-titled platinum selling album.
