HAVANA'S EFE BAR

HAVANA BAR EFE www.cubatraveltrips.com

EFE IN VEDADO

EFE is the Spanish spelling for the letter “F,” and this great little bar in Havana is so named because it’s on 23rd Street and F in the Vedado neighborhood. This place is very popular with bohemian locals and foreigners, and it is one of Havana’s few jinetero free late-night venues. For those of you who don’t know, jinetero/a is the Cuban slang term for either a male or female hustler, and they are a pervasive part of Havana’s nightlife.

EFE has great bartenders and staff who crank-out good mixed drinks, cold beers, and good food. Which makes it a great addition to anyone’s visit to Havana, whether on business or a cultural exchange tour. You will find many University of Havana and foreign students at EFE, and the crowd is mostly under 30. There are tables on both sides of the narrow main room, and a smoking area outside. They sometimes have live music on Fridays, featuring musicians like Julito Padron and Oliver Valdes, and a DJs the rest of the week. The DJ music is international pop and rap, and most of the crowd is usually grinding in the tight confines of EFE.
