LA MARINA RESTAURANT IN OLD HAVANA
Located in the heart of Old Havana and only two blocks from Havana’s cruise ship terminal, La Marina is one of the few state-owned restaurants in Havana that is worth visiting. It is in an enviable location, and though it doesn’t offer spectacular views, it is close to Plaza Vieja, the Hotel Armadores de Santander, Rum Museum, and one block off the malecon.
La Marina serves typical Cuban food and appetizers, a few international dishes, sandwiches, tapas, and has decent service for a government operated restaurant. Though there are many better choices for fine dining in Old Havana, it is a good spot to grab a snack while you’re on the requisite “Old Havana tour” and see what one of Cuba's best state operated eateries is like.
Prices range from $5 for a sandwich to $12 for a main course with two sides. While there it’s not one of Havana’s best restaurants, it is the only government-run restaurant that I think deserves a visit.
La Marina is on the corner of Obispo and Teniente Rey, just a few steps from La Plaza Vieja and Havana’s cruise ship terminal.
