Americans may legally travel to Cuba in 2019. While President Trump made traveling to our island neighbor more difficult, it is still legal, and all major U.S. airlines offer direct flights to Cuba. American Airlines offers over ten daily flights from Miami to Cuba and is the U.S. carrier with the most flights to Cuba. Delta and United have direct flights to Cuba from Atlanta, Houston and Newark, and JetBlue has direct flights from Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and New York’s JFK to Havana. Southwest has a flight from Tampa, and there are still several charter flights being connecting Cuba with Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.
The principal difference between the former regulations and the changes enacted by the Trump administration in November 2017 was the prohibition on self-directed travel to Cuba which fell under the educational category of the twelve authorized categories of travel to Cuba. Americans must now travel through a travel agency or other U.S. based entity that organizes their trip. Other than that, everything remains the same, and the other eleven categories of authorized travel to Cuba remain unchanged.
ONE-OF-A-KIND TOURS + WORKSHOPS
To comply with the people to people sub-category of authorized travel you must maintain a full schedule of activities, and so we have created informative and enjoyable tours and workshops that you will not find on any other Cuba tour operator’s itineraries. These include our Jazz and Rumba workshops. Our Son workshop, which is only available through us and National Geographic Journeys. But unlike National Geographic, you will never ride on a government tour bus with us. All our transportation is in private, late model vans and cars with professional English speaking guides and drivers. All our guides in Cuba are young, and through them and the many Cubans you will interact with one-on-one you will be able to understand the reality of life in Cuba. Some of our one-of-a-kind workshops include Havana’s Architecture, Cuban Baseball, Santeria, Cuba’s Jewish Heritage, and our Son y Rumba workshops. We are also one of the few U.S. based tour operators who can work a SCUBA diving or fly-fishing adventure into your tour of Cuba.
A tour with us will be tailored-made for you and will be arranged around your schedule.
See you in Havana!
