CUBA NATIONAL BASEBALL SERIES 2019 SECOND PHASE
The first phase of Cuba’s National Baseball Series has concluded, and the six teams that will advance to the second phase are from first to last place Santiago de Cuba, Camaguey, Las Tunas, Cienfuegos, Havana, and Matanzas. The schedule for the second phase games will be announced after the all-star game that takes place this Sunday, October 20th, 2019.
The last of the six teams that made it to the second phase was Havana, which defeated Granma yesterday 13 to 3, and won the third game of their three-game eliminatory series. I predicted that Havana would not make it, and thankfully I was wrong, so we'll have baseball in Cuba's capital through December at least. The six teams have very close records, Santiago ended the first phase with 29 wins and 16 loses, and Havana and Matanzas had 26 wins and 19 loses. After new players are added to each team from eliminated teams (supplements) before the second phase commences the second phase will probably look nothing like the first phase of the season.
