CUBAN BASEBALL SECOND PHASE 2018

MATANZAS CROCODILES LEFT OUT OF SECOND PHASE OF CUBA'S NATIONAL BASEBALL SERIES

SECOND PHASE OF CUBA'S NATIONAL BASEBALL SERIES

FRIDAY OCTOBER 26, 2018

Yesterday was opening day for the second phase of Cuba’s National Baseball Series. The six remaining teams will play through forty-five games in the second phase, and the four teams who advance past the second phase will meet in play-offs in January.

Havana lost to Villa Clara 3-6, both teams have new managers, the veteran Rey Anglada with Havana and Eduardo Paret with Villa Clara. Veteran manager Anglada is a welcome addition to most fans of Havana’s Industriales, and Paret has led Villa Clara to its best season in years.

Las Tunas defeated Ciego de Avila 15 to 5. Sancti Spiritus and Holguin kept it close through nine innings with a final score of 7-8 with the W going to Holguin. The three game opening series continues today and tomorrow.
