THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE POSSIBLE
The 13th edition of Havana's Biennial will take place from April 12th through May 12th, 2019. The magical and marvelous Cuban capital becomes so much more when its streets, parks, and sidewalks become art galleries, and some become living works of arts. During the Biennial Havana’s buses become less crowded because so many locals prefer to walk to see the art that is on display throughout the city. Over two-hundred artists will participate in this year’s Biennial, including artists from seventeen nations including Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Peru, Spain and Taiwan. Some of the Cuban artists participating in this year’s Biennial include Rene Francisco, David Beltran, Dayana Trigo, Tamara Campo, Kadir Lopez, Juan Carlos Alom, Adonis Flores, Frank Martinez, and Jose Manuel Fors.
This year the Biennial will extend its arms beyond Havana and will embrace the Cuban cities of Camaguey, Sancti Spiritus, Cienfuegos, and Matanzas. Havana is celebrating the 500th anniversary of its founding, and this is one of the many events that have been scheduled for this historic year in one of the oldest cities of the New World.
