CUBA BASEBALL 59th NATIONAL SERIES PLAYOFFS
The Cuban Baseball National Series post-season begins January 3rd, 2020 with Havana at home against Camaguey starting at 1pm. The final win/loss record was the closest in history, with number one Camaguey having 53 wins and 37 losses and the three other playoff teams each with 53 wins and 38 losses.
Yesterday team managers added three new players to each roster during a live “lottery” on Cuban television. All four chose a pitcher and two outfielders. Camaguey seems to have gotten the best of it by receiving pitcher Lazaro Blanco, Matanzas picked-up Miguel Lahera, Las Tunas Raidel Martinez, and Havana received closer Livan Moinelo. Matanzas heads into the playoffs with Jefferson Delgado who has a league best 73 RBI, Havana with Yordanis Samon who has a .445 batting average, and Las Tunas with Yudier Rodriguez who has a 2.48 ERA.
Some readers ask why I don’t use the team names instead of the province name in these blogs, and it’s because all the names would simply create confusion, KISS!
